The 1.3-liter carbureted Hyundai G4EA engine was produced in Korea from 1994 to 1999 and was installed only on the first generation of Accent models, and then only in some markets.
The G4EA is a carbureted SOHC 12-valve engine with a bore and stroke of 71.5 mm and 83.5 mm respectively. Output is 72 PS (53 kW; 71 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 11.2 kg⋅m (110 N⋅m; 81 lb-ft) at 3,000 rpm. The 1.3 L engine was not sold in North America.
In 1994, the concern introduced a 1.3-liter carburettor unit of its design. This was the first and last attempt by a Korean company to create an engine with such a fuel system. In its design, the engine was very reminiscent of Mitsubishi engines of the 80s of the last century: it has an in-line cast-iron cylinder block without any liners, a simple timing belt drive and an aluminium 12-valve cylinder head with a single camshaft, as well as hydraulic lifters.
